What makes Pleasant View Unique?

Pleasant View is the only continuing care retirement community in Ottawa. We offer beautiful spacious two-bedroom residential living villa homes and one- or two-bedroom assisted living apartments for independent older adults. They are all maintenance and worry-free!

What is a Life Plan Community or Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC)?

A Life Plan Community (also referred to as a Continuing Care Retirement Community, or CCRC) is a residential community for older adults (typically age 62 and older) that provides a variety of residential living options, alongside a campus offering services, amenities and a continuum of care designed to faithfully provide the assistance or healthcare aging adults may require. The typical CCRC offers Residential (Independent) Living, Assisted Living, Healthcare and Memory Support services on a single campus.

What are the advantages of choosing a CCRC?

A common quote from new residents is "we should have done this sooner." Maintenance-free living provides many freedoms to pursue so much more of what brings joy to our days. From the strong community support of neighbors to the full calendar of activities, there is never a shortage of engaging things to do or people with whom to do them. CCRCs, like Wittenberg Village, give residents confidence in their plan for the future. They are making their own forward-thinking decisions, rather than leaving them in the hands of family for a later date. Residents are able to live in the same community if their needs change. This alleviates the stress of moving multiple times and maintains existing relationships in a familiar environment. Being on one campus also enables couples to remain close to each other if one person requires a higher level of care.

Who is Lutheran Life Communities?

Each day we strive to live out our shared mission: Empowering vibrant, grace-filled living across all generations.

What do you mean by "vibrant, grace-filled living?"

We believe that living vibrantly and gracefully means appreciating both the obvious and subtle blessings that fill each day. It is a recognition of the beauty and abundance that surrounds and embraces us as we journey through life. Many of those blessings can be seen in the people with whom we relate each day. We believe that the community at Pleasant View provides an optimal setting to experience vibrant, grace-filled living.

Why does Pleasant View's not-for-profit status matter?
Not having to focus our efforts on the interests of investors means our organization is able to fully shape the Pleasant View experience around the residents' needs and preferences. It enables us to focus on maintaining our high standards and strong values, reinvesting any realized margin back into the community for the benefit of residents.
